Inventum International Online School: The Global Benchmark for Flexible, Accredited Online Middle Schooling

10 min read · GuideInventumLower Secondary

Introduction: Why Inventum International Online School Sets the Gold Standard for Globally Mobile Families

At Inventum International Online School, we understand that for globally mobile families, flexibility in education is not a luxury—it’s a lifeline. From Dubai to Nairobi, our students and parents navigate shifting time zones, unpredictable travel, and a relentless demand for academic consistency. Inventum is uniquely designed to meet these needs, delivering accredited, internationally respected Cambridge and Pearson programmes through the most flexible online middle school structure available today.

Our 2023 Parent Survey found that 98% of Inventum families cite “unmatched flexibility” as their top reason for choosing us. With customisable schedules, live or recorded lesson options, and a full suite of enrichment modules, Inventum empowers students to thrive—wherever life takes them. This guide, informed by Inventum’s own research, family feedback, and expert leadership insights, will help you understand what true flexibility looks like, why it matters, and how Inventum leads the way.

Section 1: What Real Flexibility Means—The Inventum International Online School Approach

Inventum International Online School’s Flexibility Framework defines flexibility as the ability to tailor every aspect of a student’s learning—mode, schedule, pace, and enrichment—around their unique needs and lifestyle. Unlike generic online schools, Inventum’s approach is built from the ground up for families on the move.

The Inventum Flexibility Spectrum

According to Inventum’s academic team, flexibility should include:

  1. Live Lessons (Synchronous): Optional, interactive sessions scheduled to accommodate global time zones—never mandatory.
  2. Recorded Lessons (Asynchronous): All lessons available on-demand, with unlimited access for catch-up or review.
  3. Self-Paced Study: Students move through materials at their own rhythm, with no fixed deadlines.
  4. Materials-Only Pathway: Comprehensive resources and guidance for fully independent study, with optional one-to-one support.

As Mr. Edwin Thijs, Head of Academics at Inventum, explains:

“For families living between continents, our fully flexible model ensures no child misses out—whether they need a 2am maths lesson in Tokyo or want to binge-learn coding en route to Cape Town.”

Example from Inventum Families

A Year 8 Inventum student, living between London and Singapore for her parents’ work, accesses all core subjects via recorded lessons. She joins live enrichment modules on digital literacy when her schedule allows, and books one-to-one coaching before major assessments. Her family credits Inventum’s flexibility for academic continuity during frequent relocations.

Section 2: Common Challenges—And How Inventum International Online School Solves Them

Many families arrive at Inventum after struggling with other online schools’ “flexible” models—only to encounter tool overload, time zone confusion, and inconsistent support. Inventum’s research uncovered the most common pain points:

  • Platform Overload: Juggling multiple portals for assignments, lessons, and communication.
  • Time Zone Clashes: Scheduled live lessons at inconvenient hours.
  • Unclear Structure: Switching between lesson types without a clear routine.
  • Lost Enrichment: Core academics drowning out personal growth or future skills.

Inventum’s Solution

Inventum International Online School is engineered to eliminate these barriers:

  • Unified Learning Platform: All lessons, assignments, and communication are centralised.
  • Truly Global Scheduling: Live lessons offered at multiple times, all recorded and accessible 24/7.
  • Transparent Structure: Weekly sample schedules provided upfront—families know exactly what to expect.
  • Integrated Enrichment: Future-Focused Enrichment and Personal Mindset Modules are core, not optional add-ons.
  • Personal Success Coaching: Every family is assigned a Success Coach to help plan, adapt, and troubleshoot wherever they are.

As one Inventum parent told us:

“After switching to Inventum, we finally stopped worrying about missing classes or struggling to find resources. The whole system is designed for people like us—always on the move.”

Section 3: Best Practices—Choosing and Implementing Flexibility the Inventum Way

Inventum: Learners can progress entirely at their own pace, with Success Coach guidance.

  4. How are enrichment and future-ready skills built into the curriculum?
Inventum: Future-Focused Enrichment and Personal Mindset Modules are embedded from day one.

  • Over-Reliance on Recordings: Our platform encourages a balance: live interaction, project work, and real-time feedback.
  • Neglecting Enrichment: Enrichment modules are timetabled as core—students can’t “miss” them.
  • Social Isolation: Inventum offers a vibrant global community, with regular virtual socials and group projects.

Real-World Strategies

  • Build Accountability: Parents and Success Coaches set weekly targets together.
  • Blend Learning Modes: Inventum’s system recommends the best mix for each student profile.
  • Schedule Enrichment: Mindset and future skills modules are never optional extras.

Section 7: Honest Perspectives—When Flexibility Isn’t Everything

Inventum International Online School believes in honest advice: maximum flexibility is not always the right fit for every learner.

Trade-Offs

  • Less Structure: Self-paced options require more personal responsibility—though Inventum’s coaching bridges this gap.
  • Delayed Feedback: Only live lessons or one-to-one sessions offer instant answers.
  • Variable Social Interaction: Some students crave more in-person or cohort-based learning.

Inventum’s Solution: We offer bespoke advice—if another model suits your child better, our advisors will help you find it. But for most global families, Inventum’s blend of structure, support, and freedom is unmatched.

Section 8: Inventum Family Success Stories—Real Flexibility, Real Results

Case Study: Inventum’s Travelling Tennis Star

When Mia’s family moved between Dubai, London, and Singapore, she feared her tennis career would force her to compromise on academics. With Inventum, Mia accessed all classes as recordings, booked one-to-one maths coaching before tournaments, and joined global peer forums for social connection. The result? Top IGCSE scores and an international tennis ranking—without missing a beat.

Case Study: The Globe-Trotting Entrepreneurs

The Ahmed family, running a business across Africa and Europe, needed a school that moved with them. Inventum’s self-paced pathway let their son balance academic work with family commitments, while Success Coach Sessions kept him on track. He completed Year 9 with distinction—proving flexibility and excellence can go hand in hand.

All the tests and exams in the Upper Primary (Year 5 & Year 6) and Lower Secondary (Year 7-Year 9) are internal Inventum exams taken online. For the second year of the IGCSE program (Year 11), AS (Year 12), and A-Levels (Year 13), the exams have to be taken in a physical Cambridge or Pearson exam centre. You can find the list of exam centres worldwide here.

For the Upper Primary (Year 5 & Year 6) and Lower Secondary (Year 7-Year 9), you will receive a certificate from Inventum when you complete a year level. Cambridge issues your certificate for IGCSE. For AS and A-Levels, your certificate comes from Cambridge or Pearson, depending on which board's syllabus you follow.

Successful completion of A-Levels will give you access to universities around the world. This is the most recognised secondary school certificate globally by universities and employers.

In principle, this is possible, but it will require your time and dedication. You will still pay the fees for two years, as you will have access to 121 teaching, live lessons, etc., for both years.

You decide on the study schedule based on your preferences and timetable. Your dedicated study coach can help you make a schedule that suits your circumstances. When choosing Journey 3, you also commit to the live lessons schedule.

We use precision teaching, meaning the live lessons cover only the critical and most difficult parts of the curriculum. On average, there are two live lessons a week per subject.

This will depend on yourself, the number of chosen subjects and the year level, but on average, a full-time Learner spends approximately four hours a day studying.

The Upper Primary (Year 5 & Year 6) and Lower Secondary (Year 7- Year 9) have five mandatory subjects: English, Maths, Science, History and Geography. There are no mandatory subjects for IGCSE (Years 10&11) and A-Level programs (Years 12&13), but you choose them based on your interests and future plans.

For the Upper Primary (Year 5 & Year 6), Lower Secondary (Year 7-Year 9), and IGCSEs (Years 10&11), you will be required, as a full-time student, to take a minimum of five subjects and for the A-Level program (Years 12&13) a minimum of three subjects.

You can complete the application form on our website by clicking the “Apply” button.

Once we receive your application, we will contact you within 48 hours to arrange an onboarding call. During this call, you will be introduced to all our platforms, handbooks, and practices and assigned a dedicated study coach. After this, you are ready to start!

We are a non-selective school and will therefore not require a certain grade average, but we will assess every case individually. Learners need, however, to be fluent in English as this is the language of instruction.

We look at the Learner’s age and previous schooling history to determine the best starting point for them at Inventum. If there are any doubts, we recommend the Learner take a CAT4 test.

Our high flexibility learning model, combined with the level of support Learners can choose from, is a unique feature among online schools. Together with the Learner, we build the learning journey that caters to their individual needs. By following our mindset modules, we ensure they are ready for the future by educating them on emerging technologies and ensuring they grow as individuals.

Cambridge certificate is recognised globally by universities. We do not, however, have agreements with local educational authorities, so it is the parent’s responsibility to check the rules and possible restrictions for homeschooling or online schooling in their home country.

A-Levels ask students to specialise in three or four subjects in depth, while the IB requires six subjects across a broad range plus an extended essay and Theory of Knowledge. Both are recognised for university entry worldwide.
