The Cambridge Computer Science syllabus shown here covers 20 topics. Your exact specification is confirmed before enrolment. Teacher contact and lesson format depend on the learning journey you choose.
The Cambridge route shown here has 5 externally marked papers. Exams are sat in person at a suitable registered exam centre. The family arranges registration and pays the centre; paid assistance from Inventum is available separately.
Paper 1 will assess sections 1 to 8 of the syllabus content. Written paper. Externally assessed.
Paper 2 will assess sections 9 to 12 of the syllabus content. Candidates will need to write answers in pseudocode. Written paper. Externally assessed.
Paper 3 will assess sections 13 to 20 of the syllabus content. Written paper. Externally assessed.
Paper 4 will assess sections 19 to 20 of the syllabus content, except for low-level and declarative programming. Candidates will submit complete program code and evidence of testing. Candidates will be required to use either Java, VB.NET or Python programming languages. Externally assessed.
Questions based on the experimental skills of planning, analysis and evaluation.
Journeys 2 and 3 include ten one-to-one lessons with a specialist teacher for every enrolled Computer Science subject. Additional sessions can be purchased separately.
Journey 2 includes recordings of the precision-teaching lessons. Journey 3 includes those lessons live twice each week for every enrolled subject.

Yes. You can take Computer Science as a single subject alongside another school, or as part of a full-time A-Level programme with Inventum. Many families start with one subject and add more later.
Computer Science is assessed through 5 externally marked papers: Paper 1 - Theory Fundamentals, Paper 2 Fundamental Problem - solving and Programming Skills, Paper 3 Advanced Theory, Paper 4 Practical, Paper 5 - Planning, Analysis and Evaluation. Full details are in the assessment section above.
Written exams are taken in person at a suitable registered exam centre. Your family is responsible for finding the centre, registering by its deadline, and paying its fees. Inventum offers a separate paid add-on to help find and communicate with a centre; the centre's own fee is not included.
