The Cambridge and Pearson French Language syllabus covers 25 topics. Your teacher works through them with you one-to-one, at a pace that matches how quickly you pick each one up.
4 externally marked papers, set by Cambridge and Pearson. Exams are sat in person at a registered exam centre — your success coach helps you find one near you.
There is no question paper for the Speaking Test.
Two passages in French are set which deal with related themes. Candidates answer specific and general comprehension questions on the two passages, and respond to a task requiring a summary or comparison of issues raised. French will be used for all questions and answers.
A list of five topics. The list changes every year. A question will be set on each of the five topics; candidates choose one question and write an essay in French.
Candidates answer three questions in French. Each question must be on a different text, taken from a list provided. The list is divided into two sections: candidates must choose at least one text from each section.

French Language is assessed through 4 externally marked papers: Component 1: Speaking Test, Component 2: Reading and Writing, Component 3: Essay, Component 4: Texts. Full details are in the assessment section above.
