The Cambridge French Language syllabus shown here covers 25 topics. Your exact specification is confirmed before enrolment. Teacher contact and lesson format depend on the learning journey you choose.
The Cambridge route shown here has 4 externally marked papers. Exams are sat in person at a suitable registered exam centre. The family arranges registration and pays the centre; paid assistance from Inventum is available separately.
There is no question paper for the Speaking Test.
Two passages in French are set which deal with related themes. Candidates answer specific and general comprehension questions on the two passages, and respond to a task requiring a summary or comparison of issues raised. French will be used for all questions and answers.
A list of five topics. The list changes every year. A question will be set on each of the five topics; candidates choose one question and write an essay in French.
Candidates answer three questions in French. Each question must be on a different text, taken from a list provided. The list is divided into two sections: candidates must choose at least one text from each section.
Journeys 2 and 3 include ten one-to-one lessons with a specialist teacher for every enrolled French Language subject. Additional sessions can be purchased separately.
Journey 2 includes recordings of the precision-teaching lessons. Journey 3 includes those lessons live twice each week for every enrolled subject.

Yes. You can take French Language as a single subject alongside another school, or as part of a full-time A-Level programme with Inventum. Many families start with one subject and add more later.
French Language is assessed through 4 externally marked papers: Component 1: Speaking Test, Component 2: Reading and Writing, Component 3: Essay, Component 4: Texts. Full details are in the assessment section above.
Written exams are taken in person at a suitable registered exam centre. Your family is responsible for finding the centre, registering by its deadline, and paying its fees. Inventum offers a separate paid add-on to help find and communicate with a centre; the centre's own fee is not included.
A-Level French Language is recognised internationally and supports progression to university applications worldwide.
